As Milan players and staff were celebrating on the pitch in Florence, Musah was captured on video stopping in his tracks as Pioli walked towards him with a face like thunder. But it was all part of a joke from the 58-year-old coach, who then broke into a smile and put his arm around the clearly relieved midfielder.

Milan won the game 2-1 thanks to two goals early in the second half. Ruben Loftus-Cheek put the Rossoneri ahead right after half-time, only for Alfred Duncan to quickly equalise. But Rafael Leao restored the advantage almost instantly and that was how it stayed. With Milan leading, Musah appeared off the bench for the final 27 minutes plus stoppage time.

Although he has racked up the games in his debut season with Milan, Musah hasn't been a regular starter since an injury in December cost him his place. The American will hope to try and change that in the final two months of the campaign, with Milan cruising to a likely second place in Serie A but still hoping to bring the Europa League trophy back to San Siro.

Musah then has the Copa America to look forward to in the summer, with the United States kicking off against Bolivia in Arlington, Texas on June 23.
